The Hopeless Romantic

This is my blog of the daily musings of my life. The details of my thoughts and feelings as a lesbian in Sheffield. With a mad and slightly weird family, but truly blessed having found my soulmate: FT. It's not always interesting, not always happy, but always honest and true! The fight for my dreams begins!

Better Late Than Never... Welcome to the mania!

Where to begin?! I'm sure many of you read my beautiful lady's journal, or you would if you were sensible, as it's far more interesting than mine! And she's an amazing writer, but that is digression. My point is, you should have a vague idea of how events have unfolded of late, but I'll put my spin on things in a brief fashion, as I'd be here all night to try and get it all down! Getting on for about 2 weeks ago now (has it really been that long?) my lady and I departed for London earlier than initially planned, as we wanted to make the most of being in the capital and doing new exciting things, so we headed of to stay with my parents and my 11 year old cousin Chesney. And of course, my precious three little mittens. That turned out to be amusing and a little frustrating, as the pleb that is Chesney has broken his ankle by being a mong in the school playground and skidding around in new trainers when the teachers had instructed him not to! So he has a red plaster on his left leg! I think his ankle came off worse than the shoes! Big deal you say? Kids use crutches all the time.
Hmm, well, if you saw this kid, you would either piss yourself laughing, or smack him round the head with frustration! You'd probably laugh for the first 5 minutes, then want to snatch the crutches off him and do it for him! Hell, I used them! They're not that difficult! Why not show him how to do it? We've tried! The physio tried! And she felt he was that unsafe she refused to have him use them on the stairs in the hospital because he was so unsteady! She showed my mum who was to have him practice at home... save the hospital a whole lot of liability! I exaggerate not... it takes him 15 minutes (literally) to walk a 1 minute journey to the car from our house! So that was amusing and aside from that, it was cool to see the little swine! As was it good to see the parents and my treasured mittens... even if I did suffer my usual allergic reaction for the first few days! But I love them all the same! I don't get to go back to London much these days, and don't get to see much of the family, so it's nice to be back, despite seeing none of my mum's family as my Nan is still being a senile twat and apparently has the royal arse with me now too! I found out my Mum still seems hell bent on not mending bridges unless my Nan makes a move first, which will happen between now and never! And also that they had a falling out before I was born and didn't talk for like 18 months or something, and only started talking when I was born as my Nan came to the hospital! That fall out was over my dickhead Uncle, just like he isn't absolved of blame on this occasion... The man is a complete prick, and I think the word 'hate' isn't strong enough! Aside from how nice it was to be home, the week and a half was as frustrating as hell, as my folks house isn't exactly spacious, and my Dad is retired and sits on his butt at home all day, and although we're fortunate enough to get to share a room and a bed when we go home, my old double bed is the squeakiest bastard in the world! You'd sound like you were having sex just getting out bed in the morning! Poxy thing! We'd just get all randy and enjoying putting our hands all over each other, having to be restrained all day, and just get a bot of momentum going, and the bloody bed would start sqeuaking with it's usual 'having sex, having sex, having sex' squeak! We persevered though... like we could go a week and a half without sex! But by the end of the visit, I for one was well pissed off about being restrained and trying to be discrete! Very glad to get home and be noisy in fact! Apart from that, whilst we were in London, we celebrated a very glorious 18 month anniversary! Oh My GOD.... Life is amazing! I wake up next to the most amazing woman every day, and realise each day, how much more in love with her I am, and that this has been the most incredible 18 months of my life, and how I'm the luckiest woman in the world! So you can imagine how elated I was when I woke up on Saturday 8th April! We had an amazing anniversary... very much in love, just milling and ambling round Covent Garden, looking in all the shops, and then round Leicester Square, going for lunch, and then sitting in a little park, devouring a healthy helping of Ben And Jerry's ice cream! Ahhhhh, bliss! From there we moved on to First Out, which is a gay cafe/bar, and had tea and smoothies, just chilling and reading various magazines... which was wonderful! Before long, we had to head home to regain our energy and get ready, as I was taking my lady to a lovely, posh chinese in Greenwich. The food was good, and the company was amazing :) I'm sure I sat there with a wide eyed grin on my face from ear to ear the whole night! The rest of the trip was cating up with more family, namely my cousin and her two adorable kids, one of which was dying to see me, to show me his new Arsenal kit which he spent his Easter money buying... little love!
He's only 6, and is small for is age, so it dead cute! And I felt honoured that he seems to be an Arsenal supporter... nice to see I'm leading the way as far as the family colours are going! First Chesney, now Tyler! And it was lovely to see Hollie too, who had great fun using the crutches I nicked from Chesney. She's adorable too. She's 10 and a real girly girl, which is dead cute. It's a shame I don't get to see more of them! I should make the effort to right to them more! I spent Good Friday screaming at the top of my voice at The Stoop, just across the road from Twickenham, watching Harlequins Rugby League play Les Catalans. This was amazing, as I used to be a season ticket holder when they were formerly London Broncos, so it was wicked to see the new colours and venue... which is ace! No more Brentford crap, proper Harlequins place, and a proper rugby stadium! The sun was shining, I had two beers, and we slaughtered the opposition! "You Ain't Seen Nothing Like The Mighty Quins" as the chant goes, and comes on the tannoy whenever a try is scored! I never realised how much I missed rugby until I sat there watching it again! I'm going to have to do something about it! When we picked my lady up from Baby G's house in North London, where she stayed for a couple of days, we went for a meal with Baby G at her parent's restaurant... that was lovely! They do the best food! And for anyone who was at our house party... they're where the samosas came from, and you know how good they were! OK, so now for the mayhem... I took my treasured car in for a service and to have the cambelt replaced as it's near the recommended milege for a cambelt replace. So it went in at the begining of the week, and when we got in it to use it on the Thursday to meet my friend Lou for a coffee (bearing in mind the first time since I told her about me being gay and being with FT), so it was quite a nervous meeting. But then as I start the car, the fucker cuts out, so I think it may have stalled, as they do sometimes. But it won't turn over! So I get someone from the garage (which is owned by a family friend) to come and have a look, and he takes it in saying he needs to look at it and see what it is! Meanwhile, FT and I wait all day as I'm supposed to be driving her over to Baby G's but I can' go anywhere because I don't know what's happening with the car.
Numerous phone calls and all we get is 'we're working on it now', and then my mum drives us up there on the way to North London to find out what's going on, and it turns out some idiot didn't do a bolt up properly when replacing the cambelt, and it came loose... they need to work on it on Easter Saturday. Not much we can do, we leave it there and wait around to hear something Easter Saturday. When we still here nothing, we go up there at 4pm, only to find out, that by the nut coming loose, it has damaged the valves of the engine and new ones need ordering in. And they can't get them till Tuesday, which is when I need to be at work in Doncaster, having driven back to Sheffield and then to Doncaster! Yet the ignorant bastard didn't bother to tell us, we had to go up there, and had no time to sort out a hire car from London end! I was fuming! I walked out livid... if I'd stayed in the garage, I'd have smacked the bloke one! So I stormed off telling a bunch of his mates to 'fuck off' as they told me to calm down! The best we could do was hire a car to be collected after work Tuesday... bearing in mind I can't miss a day as I'm still on trial at this school! So yesterday I was up at 4:30 and out of the house by 5:30 to catch the train to work to get me there for 8am! I was shattered all day! But I picked the Vauxhall Corsa up after work, which is only about 6 months old, but crap compared to my Focus, and it makes me incredibly thankful for what I've got! Mind you, it's better than not having a car though! I still have no news on my treasured car, as the garage hadn't finished it yesterday, and my mum is still chasing it up for me! We're well fucked off with it all to be fair! After work I drove to meet my lady and her mum, sister and Claire in Meadowhall which was nice to spend some time with them before I sat down and relaxed and passed out! I bought my lady a red rose on the way, and it was worth every penny to see the smile it put on her face! And I was treated to a foot massage before bed, which was amazing! Fortunately I could sleep in until 6:30 today, which felt like a lie in! And it was a good day at work, as I actually felt useful unlike yesterday! So all is looking up! Life is good, I'm in love and my relationship couldn't be better! I'm one happy woman! Especially as we've been making the most of being home, utilising all of our new purchases from our favourite woman's shop in London... Sh! Mmmm, things couldn't be bigger or better, in more ways than one! And I fully intend to make the most of things tonight, and show my lady just how much I treasure her!
